So much. So much has changed. So much has been learned. I don’t even know where to start. It boggles my mind. Makes me lose focus. It’s already starting to get tangled.
We’ve traveled through time. I thought that we would have to do this. But the actual doing of it is another thing entirely. We’ve gone back to before when Bright was still a real city and not a chaotic ruined mess. The people here live with magic infused in their daily lives. But still Bright is doomed.
Before going back we tried our best to prepare. As we came to terms with recent revelations we crafted, studied, trained, practiced. Xerxes is discovering a purpose behind his creation. It’s invigorated him. Vindral continues to unlock further mysteries of the dragon teachings. Before the fey courts were ruled by Amistaldia and the Green Man there was Queen Exphasia and the Melancholy Lord. We don’t know much about them other than that their fate is disputed. Jaden continues to hone his ability to craft magical items. Part of me wishes he could teach this knowledge to others although I confess that sometimes I too think a proliferation might become dangerous. I suppose we’ll see how Bright fared. I must guard against the same prejudices I condemn in others.
The Hounds of Light have decided to join me. I’m honored that they see good in our purpose. Their presence is reassuring. They’ve never had names of the sort we use. I’m to give them names. Ferron, Bartyl, Yahgon, and Masarun. Together we trained in preparation for my journey. I’ve learned to harness their ferocity into my attacks. I call the technique “Archon’s Menace”. I will strike fear into the hearts of the evil that obstructs us.
While we were preparing Alleira came to me to inform me of a story she had found. It seems in the past there was legend of a lady pirate that plagued the illuminated houses of Sarington. She was known to fly off her ship on feathered wings and wielded heavenly light. As it turns out the reason I am able to command the ship may be that I share a bloodline with this long departed raider. I want to know more about her. Is she really of my blood. Or rather, am I of hers? And if so, how and why did she join with someone from the Selavs or the Terrings? I shudder at the thought of it. It makes my skin crawl and I dread that I know the answer. If it is true I swear that I will honor her blood in me. I will use the tatters and shards of hate and fear and make right with them.
It seems that is in fact our true purpose. In the past Bright we met Crab. We traveled through time jumping to the platform outside the tower. But the city was alive. They greeted us as regular visitors. It was more alarming than the first time I used the platforms to enter a vacant ruin. When ultimately being granted an audience with Crab we learned many things.
So much. So much has changed. So much has been learned. I don’t even know where to start.
