We lit the branch as we headed into town. It was likely after midnight as we approached the triangle. It took some doing, but we were able to prop up the branch with the dirt and rubble. The Leader approached us and said we did well.

I awoke this morning to see my mom’s face, something I will always be grateful for. I then spent some of the morning at my house cleaning up and doing repairs.
Around noon, Jadenhar picked me up and we walked to Dazen’s house. On the way there, I picked up a plain scabbard from the dwarven smiths for Daemon’s Death. It deserves something more extravagant, perhaps, but it would be best not to highlight what my townsfolk distrust.
Dazen’s house was meticulously cleaned and repaired when we arrived. This apparently had something to do with Gwen but I didn’t find out much about this. Dazen, Arius, and Gilroy were all at the house. This was a bit odd, but also convenient as we were to be together later as well. After we spoke for a time about our connection, I went back to continue repairs.
We were all summoned to the church for dusk. The topic of conversation was the events of the past day. Gilroy distanced himself from us. I was worried we’d have to talk individually but we were taken in as a group.
Dazen did most of the talking. He speaks well, and crafts the truth to suit our aims, but at the same time he may have been more focused on the story than the practical needs of the town. Of course, I would say the same for some of the council.
Probably the most significant achievement Dazen made was getting members of the town’s leadership to admit to magic use. It seemed only the Sheriff was completely shocked and offended by this. She was also the most wary of us. But it has now been spoken that the Elven Chief uses magic and that Jadenhar is the next chosen of the ancestors. The Keeper admitted to magic as well, and to healing others following the disaster. For my part, I offered to share my scribed knowledge of the ruins with the Speaker as the area is sacred to Speakers. I also pointed out that there is a very real problem of dragonmen becoming more brazen, or perhaps more desperate. They agreed, but the focus is still on us.
After we were released, we headed to the stage with Gilroy following after we were out of sight of others. Once again, we were faced with a challenging magical challenge to overcome. But while Arius and Jadenhar looked for writings on the stage, I touched Daemon’s Death to it and spoke “Allieua.”
We found ourselves in the ruins once again. Gilroy received his key item. It is a silver shield with a giant sunstone embedded in its face. That makes the five complete.
When we teleported back, we heard cries for help coming from the halfling area. We ran there and arrived barely in time to find several halflings under attack on the coast.
A pack of large crustaceans known as reefclaws came on shore and grabbed many halfling youths. Thus began a spectacular fight only written about in legends. Jadenhar used magic to make the seaweed and beach grass grab anybody on the beach. It didn’t discriminate between friend or foe but it made all the difference in saving the halflings.
I let Gilroy use my rapier but he struggled in this fight, throwing it and then his shield. I applaud his efforts. Meanwhile, Dazen ran into the water like a man gone wild and summoned Seesha who quickly went about destroying the reefclaws.
We all put up a good fight and ultimately none of us were lost. Gilroy ended up with a golden flaming halo on his head though I’m not sure what it means. He didn’t know either. With the fight over, Jadenhar used his magic to stop the plants from moving.
