Having Casen alive has proven to be quite useful. I do not particularly like being so reliant on someone’s greater talents than our own, but in this case, I can make an exception. It would be good for us to think forward a little more so we don’t waste time and energy of others. At any rate, he got us to Orlast. He left us in what appeared to be a pretty well-off area of the city. I immediate went into the form of a bird so that I would not be identified easily. That decision proved to be a good one.
Our group was surrounded by some guards who seemed particularly put off by Xerxus. Our group had to claim him as property. Apparently animated are required to be owned by people here. Slavery is wretched. They directed us to where we could find some inns. We elected to stay at the Sleeping Dragon. The next step would be to get the layout of the city. The group went to the entry area by the docks and registered Xerxus with the city. I took flight to get a bird’s eye view of the city. It appear to be built among ruins. I tried to get under the ground as an earth elemental and was quickly stopped by some hard cut ruins underground.
While I was on my own, the group ran into a woman that desired to own Xerxus. She had her animated with her, which slipped a note to him asking him to meet at the golden gates. After some inquiry, it was discovered we would find such a place in the broken down district that I had flown over. It was close to the part goblin population. Xerxus wanted to go, so we supported his choice.
Eventually we came upon the gate we sought after and Xerxus proceeded down a tunnel. I followed as a mouse in order to keep an eye on things. What he was faced with was a substantial number of animated and other sympathizers that wanted to get out from their slavery. Their leader, Illen, had devised a plan to poison the population’s water which shouldn’t kill anyone except very weak people. That seemed a bit excessive. The rest of the group eventually got introduced and we presented a plan to bring them to bright. It would require us to find the teleportation circle, which we believe to be underground. They seemed to be agreeable to that as long as we could get everyone within a few minutes. That seems reasonable.
My only concern is that we haven’t really found anything yet that involves our true mission.
